新华社马尼拉2月7日电（记者张怡晟）据菲律宾民防部门7日凌晨通报，热带风暴“西望洋”已造成该国至少8人死亡。

据通报，遇难者中有4人死于南部城市卡加延-德奥罗因强降雨引发的山体滑坡，另有1人在南部城市伊利甘溺水身亡；其余3人的死因正在核查中。

受“西望洋”及其带来的持续强降雨和洪涝灾害影响，菲律宾已有超过24万人受灾。

热带风暴“西望洋”于当地时间2月5日晚间在菲律宾南部南苏里高省首次登陆。菲律宾气象局6日晚间的最新监测显示，“西望洋”目前正横穿菲律宾中部地区，强度已减弱为热带低压。

菲律宾位于西太平洋台风带，每年平均遭受约20场台风或热带风暴袭击。
