Vienna's' Friends of Global Governance Group 'officially lau

Vienna, April 28 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese Permanent Mission to Vienna held a global governance initiative themed event and the launch ceremony of the Vienna "Group of Friends of Global Governance" at the United Nations headquarters in Vienna on April 28. More than 40 permanent representatives from countries including founding members of the Friends Group, Director General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization Mueller, Secretary General of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law Jobin Bright, representatives of other international organizations, and experts from international think tanks attended the event. Li Song, the Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations Office at Vienna and other international organizations, presided over the event and delivered a keynote speech.

 

Li Song stated that the current global challenges are constantly emerging, and the United Nations is at a new crossroads. China solemnly proposes the Global Governance Initiative, which is highly in line with the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter, conforms to the trend of the times, and reflects the common aspirations of the international community. The Vienna Group of Friends of Global Governance aims to promote exchanges and cooperation among member states, actively advocate the practice of the five core concepts of sovereign equality, international rule of law, multilateralism, people-oriented, and action oriented, jointly revitalize the United Nations, safeguard the United Nations, strengthen the United Nations, and contribute to building a more just and reasonable global governance system.

 

All parties present actively spoke up, highly recognizing and supporting China's global governance initiative, and highly appreciating China's important leading role in supporting the UN cause, advocating multilateralism, upholding fairness and justice, and reforming and improving the global governance system. All parties expressed that the establishment of the Friends Group is timely and look forward to strengthening communication and coordination on the Vienna multilateral platform, consolidating broader consensus, and making new contributions to upholding multilateralism, promoting the construction and reform of the global governance system.
